Reading Time: 4 Minutes
In the heart of Cameroon's healthcare landscape, where tradition meets technology, a quiet revolution is unfolding at Atuakom Integrated Health Center. Standing amid rustic surroundings, where greenery meets earth, this simple yet functional structure bears the proud marks of years of unwavering service to its community. Here, dedicated nurses serve a community of aspiring minds by transforming vaccination records from carefully maintained logbooks into digital precision through CIMA's innovative platform.
Expanding CIMA's Digital Healthcare Network
"Another health facility is coming on board! Welcome to the Atuakom Integrated Health Center of the Bamenda Health District. The number of family health facilities joining the CIMA project is growing. Many more families will be educated on parenting, using the UNODC and UNICEF parenting skills, as well as educated on the children's development milestones using the CIMA experts, and finally, parents will be reminded of the need to come for the vaccines of their children and those who forgot to bring their children for vaccines. Also, the health staff can access online CPD-UK accredited courses and instantly see the list of defaulters to trace them. The implication is that more children are vaccinated, and fewer are missing out on vaccines. All this is thanks to the CIMA Project.
Long live partnership.
Long live the CIMA Project," shares Dr. Cornelius Chebo, EPI Coordinator, Northwest Region, Cameroon.

Through Yayah Emerencia's lens, the health center reveals itself as more than just a building—it stands as a sanctuary of care, where the collective heartbeat of community health echoes through its corridors. "The nurses were excited to learn of this renovation to improve vaccination uptake," shares Yayah Emerencia, PhD student at Texila American University, as she guides healthcare workers through CIMA's features. She adds, "Parents, on the other hand, appreciated the convenience and accessibility of immunization records with the app."

Each face tells a story of hope, and each conversation assures better healthcare delivery as traditional care practices merge seamlessly with digital innovation.
"CIMA has come to improve vaccination uptake. Parents are happy to know they can receive text messages reminding them of their children's vaccination schedule. The training at Atuakom Integrated Health Center, Bamenda, Cameroon, was a success. The vaccination nurses were thrilled with the training on how to use the App," adds Yayah Emerencia Ngah, highlighting the immediate positive reception to CIMA's digital innovation.
Empowering Through Education

The enthusiasm is contagious as Yayah Emerencia expertly guides the nurses through CIMA's app interface, demonstrating how to transform their paper records into digital data with just a few taps. "Waoh, it means mothers will now adhere to the vaccination schedule of their babies," exclaims one of the vaccination nurses, quickly grasping how the defaulter tracking system will revolutionize their follow-up process. A mother, cradling her infant nearby, adds with relief, "We don't need to worry much about forgetting the next vaccination appointment since we are going to have reminder messages."

Digital Transformation in Action
At a pivotal point at Atuakom Integrated Health Center, Yayah Emerencia guides healthcare workers through CIMA's digital revolution, transforming decades of paper records into accessible digital data. Amid the gentle rustling of logbooks and the quiet determination of dedicated nurses, we witness the birth of a new era in healthcare documentation—where every child's health journey is tracked with precision, and every vaccination milestone is captured with informed care and tracings. Through CIMA's innovative defaulter tracking system, healthcare workers can now instantly identify children who have missed their vaccine doses and reach out to their guardians through targeted calls or messages. As Yayah demonstrates this feature, the nurses realize that she can now proactively ensure no child falls through the immunization safety net, transforming passive record-keeping into active health protection.
SMS Reminders and Revolutionizing
Vaccination Follow-up

Nurse Fongang Vera Imba: Witnessing CIMA's transformation of vaccination services at Atuakom Integrated Health Center.
"The training took place in the EPI unit, and we, the nurses, were encouraged to draft our register in a way that the mother's name and phone number will be registered so that SMS will be sent to them to remind them of the date of their children's vaccination. It's a wonderful idea, so the mothers will not have any reason to miss their children's vaccine," explains Fongang Vera Imba, a nurse at the clinic. She adds, "Parents are deeply encouraged and uplifted by the support they receive through Cima Care's SMS messages, which provide valuable guidance on parenting and child development. Despite facing various challenges, these messages offer reassurance, helping parents stay informed and confident in their parenting journey."
In this space where dedication, compassion, and expertise intersect, every corner tells a story of commitment to community well-being. At Atuakom Integrated Health Center, the gentle sounds of babies and warm conversations fill the air, creating a symphony of hope and progress where healthcare professionals and mothers unite in shared smiles and meaningful discussions to safeguard the precious health of each child. Through CIMA Care's innovative digital solutions, these human connections are strengthened and amplified, weaving technology seamlessly into the fabric of care that embraces each family with support on their health journey.

The transition from paper to digital is the bridge to a more equitable world where each digital entry becomes a promise kept and each reminder a life potentially saved.
